Vapor Blasting
Nontoxic industrial cleaning solutions
Vapor blasting is superior to sandblasting for tougher tasks.
Dry ice blasting is the best way to go for most projects, but for tougher tasks we use vapor blasting, when more “blunt force” is needed to strip off paint buildup or accumulated rust. Vapor blasting is superior to sand and soda blasting because it eliminates all the dust that sandblasting kicks up, once again saving time and money lost due to cleanup hassles.
Vapor blasting can handle all but the most sensitive applications, including sheet metal, wood and fiberglass. If keeping the subsurface in pristine condition is required we recommend dry ice. Vapor blasting can even remove paint from a fiberglass boat hull without the risk of pitting or damaging the gel coat!
How Does Vapor Blasting Work?
A mix of abrasive media and water fired from a jet nozzle keeps dust under control thanks to the cushioning effect from the water. This makes vapor a cleaner and more versatile solution than sand or soda blasting, and one that leaves a finer finish. Rest assured your friendly and helpful Portland Blasting professional always comes prepared to set up containment walls and lay plastic tarps for 10-12 feet around the project to cover any chance of over blast.
